Kaitlin's Ear Piercing

I just noticed that I never posted about Kaitlin's ear piercing. Maybe it was so traumatizing for all of us that I was trying to forget about it. She got her ears pierced on June 21. She had been contemplating it ever since Cadence got hers done. At first she wanted to wait until she was 5. That day came and went and then she wanted to wait until she was 6. Some days she really wanted it done but I could tell she was scared. So on this day we were swimming with Lori and it came up. After several bribes from Lori Kaitlin decided she wanted to get it done. We got there and picked out some earrings. Of course Kaitlin wanted big diamond earrings, so I talked her down to some cute multi-colored flowers. The lady got ready to pierce them and Kaitlin freaked out. She was sitting on my lap crying and shaking. We took several minutes to calm her down then tried again. We ended up having to hold her down but we got it done. She was pretty upset by it though, and I felt horrible afterwards. Needless to say she got all her bribes except for extra earrings. We wanted to make sure she tolerated her studs okay since Cadence was allergic to hers. So I guess I still owe her new earrings. She did get to ride the train at the mall, the merry-go-round, and got Subway (her favorite) for dinner and cookies as a treat. All of this was times 2 of course so Cadence didn't feel left out. I felt so guilty for days afterwards. I was worried that I had ruined my innocent child. Eventually she forgave me and she really loves her pierced ears.

Kindergarten Kiddos

My babies started Kindergarten today and I've been on an emotional roller coaster. Kaitlin fought me tooth and nail on everything this morning. She topped it off by spilling her cereal. Thankfully she decided to eat it dry so there wasn't any milk; just a lot of crumbs. Cadence was her regular even tempered self which made things easier. Here are the pictures of this milestone.

Lining up to go inside.

Thankfully they let the parents come inside. I was so happy to get some pictures of them at their tables. They had bear names tags to show where they sit. I told Kaitlin she now had her very own Kaitlin Bear name tag. (her nicknames are Bear, Baby Bear and Kaitlin Bear. She was so dark and furry when she was born that we thought she looked like a baby bear cub and it stuck.)

Our Summer Adventures

Apparently I wasn't very good at remembering the camera this summer, but we did a lot of fun stuff.

We went to Moab and camped with the Robbins in May. We had 5 little girls between us and got comments everywhere we went. The girls got along so well, and the adults had a lot of fun at our late night camp fires.

Next we went to Lagoon for Steve's company party. The girls love Lagoon and want to go several times a summer.

We took another camping trip to Joes Valley Resorvoir with my family. We had fun fishing, and being with my family. We got rained on a few times, but had good weather when it mattered.

Two days after we got home we left again and went to Lake Powell or Heaven as I call it. I love that place so much that I dream about it all winter. We went with the Robbins again and just enjoyed the sunshine, swimming, eating, and relaxing. One of our favorite activities was bathing in the lake. It's amazing that bathing in a dirty lake can make you feel so much better but it felt so good that we made it a nightly ritual. We were having so much fun that we decided to stay an extra day. The 5 girls had so much fun sitting in the front of the boat singing. The adults had so much fun laying out in the sun! Ahhhhhh. It was a wonderful vacation.

We took a girls trip while dad was at scout camp. The girls and I went to St. George with Lori to see The Little Mermaid at Tuacahan. It was another fun trip. Kaitlin learned how to swim in the deep end, and is becoming quite the little fish. Cadence got comfortable in the water again after struggling a little at the beginning of the summer. While there we got pedicures, did a little shopping, went out to eat, and enjoyed the sunshine at the pool. The Little Mermaid was the highlight of the trip obviously and was so amazing! Even thought it was so late the girls stayed awake for the whole show. When we left at 11:30 pm it was still 102 degrees!

In between vacations we went to a Bees game, swimming at Lori's, ran through the sprinklers, went to the cabin, saw fireworks, ate at family barbeques, and played with friends in the neighborhood. It was such a fun summer and I'm sad to see it go. Tomorrow my babies start Kindergarten, and I've been on the verge of tears for a week now. I can't believe they are old enough to go to school. I may not survive tomorrow.

Grotto Falls with Mothers of Multiples

We hiked to grotto falls with our twins group and had so much fun! I carried one of my friends twins which gave the girls a sense of freedom because I wasn't holding thier hands the whole time. We got to cross the river on logs, wade in the water at the bottom of the falls, then ate lunch on a big rock by the waterfall. It was a really pretty hike and perfect for little kids.

5th Birthday

They had a big party with their friends. Unfortunately we forgot the camera, but we did get a picture of their awesome cake with our phones. They had a princess and knight party that included a bounce house, slaying a dragon pinata, and a "royal luncheon".

The girls got bikes for their birthday. Cadence got a Barbie bike and Kaitlin got a Disney princess bike. Grandma and Grandpa Berg gave them Helmets and horns to go with. The girls loved them!

Birthday at Boondocks

We had a spur of the moment birthday party at Boondocks for the girls with Grandma, Grandpa, Logan and Caden. We ate pizza, went miniature golfing, rode the go-carts, played games,& won prizes. Grandma made fancy princess cakes for the girls. They loved them and we had lots of fun!

Preschool Graduation

I was the mom standing off to the side barely holding back my tears as the girls sang songs, danced and showed off all they had learned in preschool the past year. I can't believe I am going to have kindergarteners! They loved preschool. Miss Tanya was an awesome teacher and taught them so much. Both girls know all their letters and sounds, can count to 30+ and are even reading basic words. We are so impressed!
